Today marks the 18th last school day for 2018-2019. In some ways, it is hard to believe that we are at this point. In other ways, it is crazy to think that there are only 18 school days remaining.
Many times, as we approach a deadline or the end of a long stretch, we feel as though we are hanging on. I remember in university that exam time was like this for me. You spent so much time thinking about the end of school and the difficult passage that you needed to get through in order to achieve it. There was the mountain of studying and final projects to sift through before the calm and peace of making it to a break.
This is the phase that JCCS is entering into. The final part to cap off another successful year. This time is the cherry on top of the sundae. Students have projects to complete, tests to write, exams to study for, and good-byes to say. It is an emotionally and physically draining time. However, over the past few weeks, we have been reminded at our devotional times as staff about “finishing strong”. This is something that we take seriously.
We are provided with one final month (or approximately 18 days) to teach, mentor, and learn. We have 18 days to keep the momentum of our theme, Rock Solid, going and ensure that this year, 2018-2019, is, in fact, Rock Solid. We have the opportunity to look back on this school year and let it be one where we met every challenge, completed every task, performed to the best of our ability.
So, take this to heart. The final stretch is upon us; it is upon you, your kids, and your family. We declare together that God is our Rock and we will stand firm and press on. As Ecclesiastes 3 states, this is a period of time. It is a time to reflect, a time to celebrate, a time to work hard, a time to enjoy the changing weather. However, when summer comes on June 22, it will be a different time. It will be a time of change, a time of rest, a time of summer.
Please encourage your children, your teachers, and yourself with these truths. Encourage them to finish strong and enjoy the rest when it comes. We are a school that knows one another, that cares for one another, that shares with one another. God blessings on you and your family in the final month of the school year.
