Track and Field Day on the Right Track

Greetings JCCS Community!

Once again I come to you this week to share a story of JCCS student success.  I believe that there is very few days in the year where I take more pride in our students than I do on Track and Field Day.  For many students, it is the culmination of at least a month’s worth of preparation and practice.  Many of them come into the day with high hopes and great aspirations.

What I love about Track and Field Day is that it is an opportunity for students to push themselves in what they are capable of doing.  Many students set forth goals for themselves to attain and rise up to the challenge and beat these lofty goals.

There are the obvious successes such as 5-point performances and records  (click here to see a list of new records this year) that are beaten; however, there is such a profound joy that comes over you when you hear children shouting, “I beat my personal best!”  I, personally, have been able to experience this with the grade 5-8 students as they have been training and planning for our Track and Field Day for most of the school year.  It allowed me to know the heights that they wanted to achieve, as well as whether they made their goals, even without them having to tell me.

Now, we have the opportunity to celebrate even further; our kids get to now display our JCCS pride at the NDCS Master Field Day tomorrow.  It is yet another opportunity for them to attain the goals that they have set for themselves and even one-up their scores from our own local Track and Field Day.

Either way, there is nothing quite like seeing the whole group of them celebrate together at the end of the day with the relay races.  Team pride is high and encouragement is saturated!  Grade 8 students are cheering on the grade 3s while the grade 3s learn how to be part of a team from our older students.

It all comes together to be one thing: Community!  It is part of our school name and our Track and Field season brings it together in such a beautiful way.  We have great volunteers that help out at these respective days and also contribute greatly to the community feel.

If this is something that you wish to experience, come out to our Track and Field Days in the future, or swing by Mohawk Sports Park in Hamilton tomorrow.  Our Niagara District Christian Schools

come together in Word, prayer, and athletic competition, all to bring glory to the Lord!  “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:17)
