Near the beginning of the school year, we received word from McCarthy Uniforms, our long-time uniform supplier, that they would be unable to continue our professional relationship together. Their organization was going through a restructuring and they would be unable to hold onto our account with them. Since then, the office has been hard at work looking for another supplier to fill this void. We are pleased to say that we have come to an agreement with Maddalena Uniforms.
Maddalena Uniforms is a company that supplies many of Catholic schools in Southeastern Ontario. I had the privilege of meeting with the owner and president, Massimo Maddalena, and he is a kind man that looks to offer great quality product. However, what really sold me on him was that he kept asking the question, “How can we serve you best?”
So, to hopefully answer a few questions, I will ask a few hypotheticals and answer them myself.
What are the costs of uniforms compared to McCarthy?
Costs are extremely similar. The smaller sized uniforms are slightly cheaper and the larger sizes are slightly more (a couple of bucks).
How will I receive uniforms for my kids?
Maddalena is currently creating a place on their website for uniform orders. They will then compile orders altogether and come to JCCS and distribute from here a couple times per year. However, if you are in urgent need of uniforms, you are still able to have them sent to you in the mail or pick them up in person at their site in St. Catherines.
How do schools that are currently with Maddalena feel about their service?
I have connected with around 5 different principals of schools with Maddalena and they had nothing but great things to say. For example, one of them said, “I have many years of experience dealing with maddalena uniforms....both as vp and 6 years as principal....I am very happy with his quality and service.”
What kind of product will I be receiving?
Our uniform choices will be nearly the same. The polo shirts and sweaters will be as close to the same as what McCarthy provided. On top of this, we are adding one additional uniform choice. There will also be a lighter collared polo to be an option during the warm summer months. This will hopefully allow students to stay cool during those hot recesses.
These are just a few questions answered, but I hope that this will help you as we enter into a new uniform supplier relationship. Exact details about how to order, exact dollar amounts, and other things will be distributed at a later date. Until then, if you have any pressing questions, feel free to email me at email@example.com.
